Star of many early 2000s iconic movies, Lindsay Lohan was once on top of the world. Gaining traction after the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap, Lohan went on to make more films and release projects through Disney, including Freaky Friday, where she starred alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Freaky Friday landed Lohan with the MTV award for “Breakthrough Performance.” These movies helped to cement Lindsay Lohan as a child star working with Disney not only in front of the camera but contributing to their soundtracks. Her role as Cady Heron in Mean Girls catapulted her into Hollywood stardom and showcased her acting range. She went on to produce two pop-rock albums through Casablanca Records, Speak (2004) platinum-certified, and A Little More Personal (Raw) (2005) going gold. Lohan has starred in a couple of comedy films, one being Herbie: Fully Loaded, as well as some independent movies to further add to her range as an actress. She seemed to be at the top of her game in the mid-2000s, starring in a handful of films, producing music, and hosting SNL, the MTV Movie Awards, and the World Music Awards, all within the years of 1998 and 2006. After she skyrocketed to the top, Lohan started falling towards the bottom.
From 2007 to 2018, Lohan had found herself gaining media attention in different ways, with the paparazzi focusing on her life as a party girl rather than focusing on her upcoming projects. Her career as an actress slowed down, with many of her films not receiving the greatest reviews and many projects being delayed for reasons related to her personal and public life. Lohan was no longer the “it girl” she once was in her Disney days, but rather a public spectacle after her numerous run-ins with the law and trips to rehab. We don’t need to go too deep into her problematic past. She has since gotten out of rehab and transitioned into a healthier, sober life.
After returning to music and acting in 2018, Lohan re-signed with Casablanca Records, and in 2020 released the single “Back To Me.” Her first album in over a decade was rumored to be released in the same year, yet it seems the project has been pushed back, as it has yet to come out. In late 2021, Lohan decided to partner with Studio 71 and release a podcast. The podcast's focus is said to take a deeper dive into the behind-the-scenes life of the actress and singer and be home for more intimate conversations between Lohan and her guests. The podcast has yet to launch but is rumored to come out sometime this year. She has also signed a two-movie deal with Netflix, in addition to a Christmas romantic comedy she has with Netflix set to come out later this year. Lohan will star as the main character and will play a woman who has gotten in a skiing accident resulting in amnesia. As with most Netflix Christmas movies, I am expecting it to be a little cheesy and predictable, but I am excited to see Lohan up on the screen once again.
It seems like the star has a handful of different projects in the works, and I am anticipating her fresh start in front of the camera and in the recording studio. Whether that be for advancements in her career as a musician, actress, or her start as the host of her very own podcast, it will be nice to see how Lohan thrives in the upcoming years. For a while there, it seemed Lohan would be yet another child star that took on too much too fast and would fade into the shadows of the person she once was. It is refreshing to see her focusing on building up her career and maintaining a happy and healthy life.
