COVID-19 has officially changed the way I dress. For the past nine months, I have opted for comfort over fashion because I rarely leave my apartment. I sit in front of my computer for eight hours a day, and it would take extreme dedication to do that in a pair of jeans!
Before COVID, I always had my hair straightened and wore a full face of makeup. I would have a wide selection of shoes and clothes to choose from, and I enjoyed picking out outfits that made me feel good about myself.
But what do I wear now in the new world we are living in? At first, I thought I would live in my pajamas throughout quarantine. Now, I pair a stylish top for my Zoom class appearances, all while wearing the softest pair of sweatpants I could find. It’s more comfortable that way. When I’m not doing school work and have to go outside, I opt more for athletic, stretchy pants and t-shirts.
I still feel good about myself when I choose these clothes. When quarantine hit, I felt that there was a pressure lifted off of me. I didn’t need to do my makeup every day or always look put together. Thanks to COVID, I now value comfort over fashion.
By staring at my laptop eight hours a day Monday through Friday, I find it easier for me to work in comfy clothing. As the next couple of months get colder I like that I can stay warm and cozy in my clothes, and not have to sacrifice my warmth for fashion!
