Namaste

Written & performed by Rhemy Crawford

In these wearing and unpredictable times, it can be extremely difficult to stay motivated, especially concerning self-care. At least in my case, I have constantly fallen in and out of habits I made last year - yoga being the only exception. Yoga has become one of my favorite ways to cope with stress; it’s quick, fun and leaves me feeling relaxed the second I say “namaste.”

There are heaps of benefits connected to yoga not only related to the physical, but also your mental state. Yoga increases flexibility, muscle strength and body tone as well as reducing stress and negative mind blocks, increasing self-awareness, promoting self healing, helping with attention/focus and the list goes on! The breathing exercises used in yoga help elevate this mind-to-body connection and have you feeling centered as ever stepping off your yoga mat.

Despite yoga generally having the reputation of a long, difficult and sometimes boring activity, it’s quite the opposite. Yoga is designed for you - meaning you can choose how deep to go into certain movements, how long you hold a pose for and customize your session based on your own needs. The yoga flow below follows this design in that there’s no pressure to follow along perfectly; do what feels good for your body.

This flow has recently been my go to, being that I’m able to do it in my cubicle of a room in under 5 minutes and have the rest of my day to finish up my tasks with a clear mind. I added a couple minutes of stretching in the beginning to loosen up which, again, you can alter to what works for your body! Grab a mat, play some relaxing tunes and follow along :)
